Tucked beneath the shadow of Ben Alder, Culra Lodge is an off-grid mountain lodge retreat that provides luxurious comfort in Scotland’s wilderness. Reached via a private track that makes the journey feel part of the experience, this is one of the most remote lodges Ben Alder Estate offers. With a wood-fired sauna, hot tub and natural plunge pool, it’s a place to properly slow down and relax away from civilisation.

Culra Lodge features three beautifully designed bedrooms, each providing comfort with breath-taking views of the surrounding hills and munros. With plenty of space for 8 people, Culra is the ultimate family getaway in the heart of the Scottish wilderness.

Living & Dining Space

With plenty of room in this built-for-purpose lodge, Culra offers the perfect spaces for relaxation, entertaining, and of course dining. With an open fireplace in both rooms, a massive bespoke wooden table, and deep sofas and chairs, every day in the lodge will become an occasion in it’s own right.

Kitchen & Catering Facilities

Designed for ease of self-catering, cook up a storm viewing munros through the window with a gas cooker/hob, plenty of storage and counter space, and a fridge freezer. No matter the occasion, Culra has the facilities to serve up perfection.

Wood-fired Hot Tub

Experience the highest altitude hot tub in the entireity of Britain. With a breath-taking view, the attached Wood Fired Hot Tub is quick walk over the decking from the lodge itself. In just 4 hours (weather depending) you and other guests can sit in the warmth of its natural heat, taking in the wonders of the Scottish wilderness.

Wood-fired Sauna & Natural Plunge Pool

Wanting that once-in-a-lifetime experience? Culra has it’s own wood-fired sauna next to a natural plunge pool, which means you can get the best of remote highland views while in the warmth of the sauna, or freshness of the water. The highest altitude sauna in Britain, there is no sight better than looking at Ben Alder from a place of comfort and relaxation.

How Do I book?

Culra Lodge is costed nightly depending on the season, plus an additional refundable £500 housekeeping deposit. The prices are as follows:

Culra is a minimum three night stay, except over the Christmas period (20th December – 2nd January) where it is a minimum 7 night stay.

Yes, in the dining and drawing rooms. Logs are supplied.

Up to 12 people can be seated comfortably.

Gas cooker, gas hob, fridge-freezer and kettle. Please note there is no microwave.

Yes, a cook and daily housekeeper can be arranged at additional cost.

Children are welcome, but must be supervised at all times due to the remote location.

Culra is a remote, off-grid lodge accessed via an estate track. Guests travelling in standard vehicles must park at the lay-by by Loch Pattack and walk along the track (approximately 7km) to reach the lodge. The lead booker must acknowledge and accept this access arrangement at the time of booking. Guests arriving in suitable 4×4 vehicles may drive directly to Culra.

Guests are expected to drive safely and courteously, respecting the surrounding environment and strictly avoiding any off-track or off-road driving. Should your vehicle come off the track or require recovery please be aware that the Estate is not qualified or insured to attempt recovery of your vehicle. It is strictly prohibited to allow any unqualified people who do not carry appropriate insurance on to the Estate to assist with your recovery. 

A Munro is a Scottish mountain with an elevation of more than 3,000 feet (914 metres), and you can ‘bag’ one by reaching the summit. Nine of these lofty peaks reside on Ben Alder Estate from Dalwhinnie to Camusericht.
